Grown-ups Land

At the doorway of understanding
I hesitate
The world I'll enter is demanding
but I just want to investigate

On the treshold of of responsibility
I falter
My life will change inevitably
and I dont want to alter

One step in doorknob in hand
I fret
this is what they call grown-ups land
and I don't want to go there yet.

I finally have an image that goes with the poem (this has taken me about 5 years! but like I said, it takes a while for skill to catch up with your imagination! This has been inspired by many things. First time scratchboard, definitely an experience! Enjoy!

Really, really wonderful. It indeed illustrates the poem very well, along with many other things it says and does... And I just love the style you're using here...

Thankyou. I think it works for a lot of things.. It wasnlt particularly made to this poem, but since this poem a picture has started forming in my head.. it came to a conclusion after I had seen some marionettes (which always fascinate me) and then had the topic twisted thrown at me. Somehow it suddenly came together.. the light at the doorway and the entering of new phases with the little boy walking towards the light has been in my head for a long time now. Quiet symbolic hmm?

Yes it's time to cut the cords LOL
It's a really brilliant illustration of the poem, I love the light and how you have captured the moment of indecision between the release of the cords and holding on to them.

I love this! It's beautifully drawn and is really perfectly rendering the poem. A wonderful poem too!

This is amazing. And I feel the same way about grown-up land.

Whoa, I'm impresed, working from dark to light can be a difficult thing to do but you pulled it off well, and the composition is great too.
